Tunto and the Finnish Defence Forces will distribute condom packages to new conscripts starting their military service in July as part of the training programme. The health and safety of young people in Finland is at the heart of the socially responsible act.
15,000 Tunto condom packages will be distributed to conscripts in connection with the training weeks organised at the beginning of their entry into service, when one of the topics to be discussed is sexual health. According to RFSU, owner of the Tunto brand, the cooperation with the Finnish Defence Forces provides a unique and nationwide platform for reaching young people and supporting sexual education, as the young people entering the service comprehensively represent their own age group.
“Taking care of sexual health and protecting oneself are a key part of young people’s well-being. The start of military service is a great opportunity to reach a large number of young adults and support them in making responsible choices. The use of a condom keeps both the recruit and their partner safe, and we want to do our part to ensure that the necessary equipment and the right information are easily accessible,” says Maria Sinivuori, Product Manager of Tunto at RFSU Finland.
The Defence Forces also see cooperation as a natural part of strengthening young people’s everyday security skills.
“For us, this is, above all, a socially responsible act. We want to do our part to ensure that young people starting their service have the best possible tools and knowledge to take care of themselves, their partners and their health – also in their free time,” says Marko Jalkanen, Community Marketing Planner at the Defence Command’s Public Affairs Division.
Finnish youth at the forefront in responsibility among the Nordics
RFSU’s annual survey* shows that Finnish youth take exemplary responsibility for their sexual health. According to the Condom Check 2025 study, published in February 2026, 70% of 16–20-year-olds have used a condom in the past year. Among the age group, condoms are the undisputed favourite, and as many as 58% of young people aged 16–20 in Finland name it as their most common contraceptive method, which is a significant increase compared to 2024 (50%) and 2023 (41%).
The study reveals that Finnish adolescents are among the most responsible and open in the Nordic countries when it comes to sexual health-related issues by many indicators:
- Condoms during “the first time”:
When having sex for the first time in their lives, the use of condoms is most common among Finnish adolescents aged 16–20 (78%). The corresponding figure is 74% in Norway, 64% in Denmark and only 54% in Sweden. - Usage with a new partner:
68% of Finnish adolescents aged 16–20 used a condom in their most recent sexual experience with a new partner, which shows a clear increase from the previous year’s 60%. In neighbouring countries, the figures are lower: 50% in Sweden and Denmark and 56% in Norway. - Ease of suggesting a condom:
According to the survey, suggesting the use of a condom is easiest for Finns. As many as 74% of 16–20-year-old Finns find it easy to suggest using a condom to a new partner. The discussion culture has taken a big leap forward, as the corresponding figure was still 59% in 2024.
Tunto is the only condom brand designed for Finns and sold only in Finland.

The survey was carried out in August 2025 as an online survey in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark through the Bilendi panel. The data collection was targeted at a nationally representative sample of persons aged 16 to 65. In each country, more than 1,000 interviews were conducted in the target group.
